November Echo Creative Club Reveal

I was delighted to see the handmade pendant by Jeannie K Dukic for the November Echo Creative Club. It was this adorable heart with wire in gold and black. I made a necklace that I really loved and photographed nicely, but when I put it on, the thickness of the pendant is so much larger than the rest of the necklace that it causes it to lie funny. I only discovered this a few days ago, so in all honesty, I'm probably going to fashion it into a longer necklace design and replace it with another pendant on this one, but I'll update my blog with the results after I edit. In the meantime, here is the original pendant:

And Here is the necklace design:

I first patina'd the small arte metal leaves to a gold color on both sides and glazed. I used black obsidian beads with pretty patina'd gold bead caps and Swarovski crystals. I patina'd a keyhole and added it to a arte metal connector blank. I used an arte metal filigree as well as 2 types of chain and jump rings.

Thanks for checking out my design! Please visit the other participants as well.

  1. That is pretty!!!! Am wondering if you can add something to the back of the filigree to give it more volume so its on the same level as the heart? Or will that unbalance everything even more?

Love all the patina work you have done, you are always so good with it!

  2. Great work and I love the patina! This is quite a statement piece. Sorry you had so much trouble with the heart.

  3. Hi Jessica, I love the heart pendant you were sent and your design. The heart looks wonderful on the necklace, so maybe if you just add more chain to the back of the necklace to make it longer, then you do not have to do a complete do over.

  5. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the heart! My chest bone is weird. Most girls' bones lay flatter than mine, and I have trouble with many pendants that hit that length on my chest. I thought about adding chain, but then the lengths mess up and it doesn't lay right. The only reason I want to redo it is b/c I love it so much that I want to make sure I can wear it b/c I plan on keeping it. : ) Thanks for looking guys!!

  6. What a fun pendant! I really like how you work with it - your design ideas are great. And I can totally sympathize with when you discover at the last minute that it doesn't quite work do to real world wearing conditions. Good luck with the fix, because the design is great.

  9. Gold & black - a very elegant and rich mix. Love your necklace - please do share the 'replacement' (a pity to re-design it, it is so beautiful!)

  13. Oh man, this is such a cool necklace design, sorry that it doesn't feel right when it's on, that's a real bummer. This one looks so wonderful with the different textures and design elements and the colors are stunning! Gook luck w/the 're-make',...those can be fun and sometimes yield even better goodies!!

  14. I know how it is when you are pleased with a design and it either doesn't lay right for you. This is a truly wonderful piece you created for the pendant and I have to say I stared at it to maybe come up with a way to adjust it to lay better but it hasn't come to me yet. I would so wear this!
